The McCormick School of Engineering at Northwestern University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Energy and Sustainability at the level of assistant or associate professor. This interdisciplinary position is for a single or a joint appointment within the departments of Industrial Engineering & Management Sciences, Mechanical Engineering, and Chemical & Biological Engineering. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in one of these disciplines or a closely related field, demonstrated excellence in research, and a strong commitment to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates are expected to build a world-class research program and to be an effective teacher.
Candidates are sought who combine the areas of energy/sustainability with systems analysis and design. Additional foci could include lifecycle assessment, techno-economic analyses, and systems modeling based in the relevant physical and chemical fundamentals. The candidate is expected to contribute to the interdisciplinary collaborative research culture in the School of Engineering and beyond, and their research vision may integrate with existing research centers and institutes at Northwestern such as the Institute for Sustainability and Energy at Northwestern (ISEN), the Center for Engineering Sustainability and Resilience (CESR), and the Segal Design Institute.
