We have 2-year funding for either a PhD student or a Postdoc to work at the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) campus, located in Silver Spring, MD USA. The research area is focused on pulse oximetry. Examples of research projects include, but not limit to: 1) fabrication of physical phantoms with biologically relevant properties of adult fingers; 2) Monte-Carlo simulation of light propagation in tissue; and 3) performing experimental measurements with finger-simulating phantoms.
Candidates should have a background in biomedical engineering, optical engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, or other related fields, with experience in optical spectroscopy, Monte Carlo simulation, 3D printing, and phantom fabrication.
