The Thomas Lord Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science at the Pratt School of Engineering at Duke University is seeking applicants for two open rank tenure-track/tenured positions. One for multiple Assistant Professor faculty positions in the area of Robotics and Autonomous Systems. Early career researchers doing innovative work in all areas of robotics and autonomous systems, including but not limited to experimental and field robotics, legged robotics, human-robot systems, distributed robotics, medical robotics, soft robotics, perception-based planning, learning for robotics and control, and other allied autonomy disciplines are encouraged to apply.
The other position is a cluster hire for multiple tenure-track Assistant Professor faculty positions in the targeted area of Computational and Robotic Systems for Surgery. Early career researchers doing innovative
work in the clinical application of computational tools and engineering approaches to surgery and medicine are encouraged to apply. Areas of interest include real-time imaging, virtual/augmented reality, medical robotics, haptics, and/or ubiquitous sensors, potentially all linked and driven by AI-enabled algorithms, as well as modeling and simulation explicitly applied to assisting clinical practice.
