Career Options for PhDs: how to explore academic and nonacademic careers to identify a path that’s right for you.

PhDs work wherever smart people are needed. In today’s creative economy, a faculty career isn’t the only option for PhDs who are seeking engaging and rewarding work. PhDs work in every part of the economy – industry, nonprofits, higher education, and government.

But what career pathway will be right for YOU? Deciding on what to do after your PhD or postdoc can feel overwhelming, even daunting.

This special virtual workshop series is designed to take doctoral students and PhDs through a series of exercises to help them evaluate career options and identify next steps in building their career either as faculty or beyond the professoriate.

When: Every Wednesday in March from 12 p.m. – 12:30 p.m. ET. We will cover a unique topic each week, so plan to attend all sessions.

Where: Virtual workshops inside the PhD Career Training Platform. Click here to register.

Format: The virtual webinar will include instruction, reflective prompts and exercises, and opportunities for participants to ask questions directly to the Beyond Prof team. Each week, we will cover a new topic, so plan to attend all sessions. Replays will be sent to all registered attendees.

Who should attend: This webinar series is uniquely designed for doctoral students, PhDs, and postdocs from all academic disciplines who are wondering:

  • What career options are available to PhDs in my discipline?
  • How to identify career pathways that are right for me?
  • What are my most marketable skills for careers outside of academia?
  • What can I do with my PhD?

Advance registration required. Login to register

Replays will be emailed to registered attendees and available for 30 days. Please note that replays will be available starting Friday at noon.
