Want to showcase your creativity as an individual competitor, or as part of 3 students team? Re-engineer existing products or create new designs that address a broad spectrum of industrial, manufacturing, and humanitarian challenges. Open to all mechanical Engineering, students from other engineering disciplines, Multidisciplinary, and Engineering Technology students.
Awards: Partial Travel Support to the finalists to compete in the finals at the ASME International Design Engineering Technical Conferences and Computers and Information in Engineering, and Additive Manufacturing 3D Conference (IDETC/CIE/AM3D) in Charlotte, North Carolina.
5 awards $2,000 each; Faculty Advisor on the winning projects receives $1,000 each and 5 years complimentary ASME membership.

ASME Innovative Design Simulation Challenge
Are you, or do you know any Aeronautical, Mechanical, Automotive, Civil, Electrical, Electronic, Communication, Instrumentation and Control, Astrophysics, Particle physics, Materials Science, Fluid mechanics, Climate science, Biology, Ecology, Economics, Medical, Sociology undergraduate or graduate student? All these, and many more disciplines in engineering, technology, humanities, and social sciences profusely use modelling and computer simulation tools and technologies to design, simulate and interpret information necessary to assess robustness of choices in the presence of uncertain information.
Demonstrate your skills in developing and deploying simulations or simulation frameworks and environments, using open, commercial or custom software to showcase designs and compete for the Best Overall Simulation and/or the best impact/utility simulation Awards.
Compete on your own or form a team of up to 3 students to showcase your design and simulation skills.

2016 Student Professional Development Conference (SPDC)
Participate in industry seminars, Student Design Competition(SPDC) and the ASME Old Guard sponsored Communication skills competitions at any of the following 12 regional SPDCs held around the world. The competitions and conference sessions are open at a discounted rate to all ME students, with an ASME issued membership number.

Top 2 winning SDC teams from each USA SPDC; and one winning SDC team from each overseas SPDC location receive partial travel support and are invited to compete at the finals in November at the ASME International Mechanical Engineering Conference and Exposition (IMECE). Similarly, a winner of the Old Guard Sponsored Verbal Competition from each of the 12 locations is provided travel support and invited to compete at the ASME IMECE.

- Outstanding Startup Student Section Grants
The purpose of this competitive grant is to provide seed money to the selected new student sections.Student Sections Enterprise will match the funds provided by the Student Section’s Mechanical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering Technology Department to a maximum amount of $500 for up to twenty-four (24) selected new, startup student sections.

Note: (All petitions accompanied by an Annual plan of activities, and expected impact, received after May 2015 and through May 2016 deadline are automatically entered for the Outstanding Startup Student Selection Grant). The winners are expected to provide a Report on the activities and the impact.
- Outstanding Student Section – Multidisciplinary Humanitarian projects Grants
Two (2) Grants of $3,500 each are provided to select Student Sections to support an engineering-based humanitarian proposal outlining an innovative and impactful multidisciplinary project aligned with ASME strategy.

NASA Goddard Space Flight Center-‐GSFC, NY
NASA GSFC Office of Education is currently seeking Undergraduate students to participate in the NASA GISS Climate Change Research Initiative (CCRI) summer internship program located at the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York City.
Deadline for applications is March 1st, 2016. Applicants must be US citizens and should reside within 50 miles of the Institute.
