Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering. The appointments for these nine-month
tenure-track positions begin August 2023. The ideal candidate will be committed to
excellence in innovative undergraduate education and will have significant professional
and/or research experience in the broad area of solid mechanics, including dynamic
systems and control, materials science, or manufacturing. A computational and/or
experimental background is a plus, and previous academic experience is preferred. The
successful candidate will teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, develop and
implement a sustainable research program, lead student projects, prepare motivated
students intellectually, professionally, and personally, and advise students.

The Department of Energy of Politecnico di Milano is recruiting a research assistant on “Predictive Models for Maintenance Based on Deep Learning”.

Data and images can be used to inform predictive maintenance. To enable this, new modelling and analysis capabilities are needed. The objective of the research program is the exploration, development and application of modelling and analysis methods for the detection, diagnosis and prediction of failures in industrial components and systems. The research will be carried out within international collaborative projects with industries, research centres and universities.

The research will be carried out within the European projects “Intelligent RELiability 4.0” (Irel4.0) and “Reliable Energy and Cost Efficient Traction System For Railway” (RECET4RAIL).

We have 2-year funding for either a PhD student or a Postdoc to work at the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) campus, located in Silver Spring, MD USA. The research area is focused on pulse oximetry. Examples of research projects include, but not limit to: 1) fabrication of physical phantoms with biologically relevant properties of adult fingers; 2) Monte-Carlo simulation of light propagation in tissue; and 3) performing experimental measurements with finger-simulating phantoms.
